Zonegran Side Effects

Serious Side Effects

Some side effects of Zonegran, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Depression, anxiety, or other emotional changes
  • Hallucinations, delusions, or other psychotic changes
  • Unusual bruising or bleeding
  • Frequent infections or infections that do not go away
  • Decreased sweating and fever (which can result in heat stroke)
  • Worsening of seizures or seizures in people without epilepsy
  • Agitation or hostility
  • Confusion or memory problems
  • Decreased urine production
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, and unexplained swelling
  • Suicidal thinking or behavior (see Seizure Medications and Suicide)
 

Rare Zonegran Side Effects

Rare side effects of Zonegran occur in less than 1 percent of people taking the drug. Because these side effects are so uncommon, it can be difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by Zonegran or by factors unrelated to the medication.
 
Some of these rare Zonegran side effects include but are not limited to:
 
  • Stiff neck
