In clinical studies, up to 3 percent of people taking Zonegran to treat partial seizures experienced weight loss, compared to 2 percent in a similar group of people not taking it. Appetite loss is also common, occurring in up to 13 percent of people taking Zonegran (compared to 6 percent of those not taking the drug). While some weight loss can be desirable for many people, weight loss in children or losing too much weight can be a problem.
