Side Effects to Report

There are a number of possible side effects with Vimpat that you should report to your healthcare provider. These include (but are not limited to):
 
  • Depression
  • Suicidal thoughts or behaviors
  • An irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
  • Fainting
  • Heart palpitations
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including an unexplained rash, hives, itching, unexplained swelling, wheezing, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.
     
It is especially important to let your healthcare provider know if you develop a rash that is accompanied by a fever, as this can be a sign of a dangerous reaction to Vimpat.
 

Other Possible Side Effects of Vimpat

Other Vimpat side effects, for which the exact percentage has not been reported, include (but are not limited to):
 
  • Anemia
  • Neutropenia (low levels of certain white blood cells)
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Constipation
  • Indigestion or heartburn
  • Dry mouth
  • Numbness of the mouth
  • Irritability
  • Fever
  • Feeling "drunk"
  • Falling
  • Muscle spasms.

It is possible that you may experience some or none of the Vimpat side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried.
