Trileptal® (oxcarbazepine) is a prescription drug that is approved to control partial seizures in people with epilepsy. While it is not exactly known how the drug works, it is possible that it works by blocking sodium channels in the brain. Among the factors that can affect the dose of Trileptal that your healthcare provider recommends are your age and weight, other medications you may be taking, and other medical conditions you may have. As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Trileptal. Some of the more common side effects include dizziness, nausea, and fatigue.
