Tranxene® is a prescription drug commonly used to treat anxiety, alcohol withdrawal, and seizures. The medication, which is a benzodiazepine, works by enhancing the effects of a certain calming chemical in the brain. As a result, people taking Tranxene may experience a reduction in anxiety and fewer seizures, among other things. It comes in both short-acting and long-acting forms. Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, and upset stomach.
