Tranxene
® is a prescription drug that has been approved for the treatment of alcohol withdrawal,
anxiety, and
seizures. It works by enhancing the effects of
GABA -- a naturally occurring calming chemical in the brain.
While most people have no problems with Tranxene, side effects are possible. Commonly reported problems include drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea or upset stomach. Fortunately, such reactions -- if they even occur -- are mild and often easily treated.
