Tranxene® is a prescription drug that has been approved for the treatment of alcohol withdrawal, anxiety, and seizures. It works by enhancing the effects of GABA -- a naturally occurring calming chemical in the brain. While most people tolerate it without problems, side effects are possible. Common side effects of Tranxene include drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea or upset stomach.
