Topamax® is a prescription medicine that is licensed for the treatment of epilepsy and prevention of migraine headaches. By slowing electrical signals in the brain, the medication can help prevent seizures. It can also prevent migraines from occurring by calming nerve cells in the brain that become overly excited. Topamax is available as tablets and "sprinkle" capsules, and is generally taken twice a day.
