Topamax® is a prescription medication that is used for the prevention of migraine headaches and the treatment of epilepsy. The medication is believed to work by slowing electrical signals and calming nerve cells in the brain. Topamax comes in tablet and capsule form (which can be opened and sprinkled), and is generally taken twice a day. Drowsiness, weight loss, and fatigue are some of the common side effects that have been seen with Topamax.
