Less Common Topamax Side Effects

There are other possible Topamax side effects that occur less frequently. These side effects occur in 3 percent of people or less. With these side effects, it is difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by Topamax or other factors.

Some of these less common side effects seen with Topamax include but are not limited to:

Flushing or hot flashes
Hemorrhoids
High cholesterol or low cholesterol
Decreased sex drive (libido) or premature ejaculation (see Topamax Sexual Side Effects)
Acne
Ear infection
Gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD)
Sensitivity to the sun
Blurred vision
Urinary tract infection (bladder infection).

Topamax Side Effects: Final Thoughts

It is possible that you may experience some or none of the Topamax side effects explained in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects during treatment or if something "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect of Topamax, your healthcare provider should be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
