Topamax Risks

Topamax® (topiramate) is a prescription drug approved for treating epilepsy. It can also be used to prevent migraines. Before you start taking Topamax, risks associated with this medicine should be reviewed with your healthcare provider to help ensure a safe treatment process.

There is also a risk of side effects with Topamax. Some of the most common problems that were reported with the medication during clinical studies included difficulty with concentration or attention, unusual sensations (such as burning or tingling), and drowsiness. In most cases, these reactions are mild and either do not require treatment or can be treated easily.
