Tegretol Warnings and Precautions

Who Should Not Take Tegretol?

You should not take Tegretol if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Tegretol, carbamazepine, or any of the inactive components used to make Tegretol. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
      
  • Have had bone marrow depression in the past. This is a blood disorder in which the bone marrow does not function properly to produce blood cells. You may have had bone marrow depression if you had a low blood count on a laboratory test.

 

 

 

 

  • Have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks. MAOIs include:
