A few common side effects of Tegretol® (carbamazepine) include dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea. Rare side effects include hair loss, dry mouth, and headaches. In most cases, these side effects are minor and easily treated. However, there are also a number of more serious Tegretol side effects that you should report to your healthcare provider right away, including signs of an allergic reaction, hallucinations, and difficulty passing urine.
