Drug Interactions With Primidone

Some of the drugs that can interact with primidone include anesthetics, barbiturates, and sleep medications. Some of these potential drug interactions with primidone can change the amounts of the medications in your blood, possibly increasing your risk of side effects or decreasing the effectiveness of the drugs. Prior to starting primidone, it is important to consult your healthcare provider to be sure you understand the specific interactions that may apply to you.

 Primidone (Mysoline®) can potentially interact with other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to primidone interactions include:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Anesthetics
  • Antidepressant medications
  • Barbiturates, such as:

 

    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®) 

 

  • Benzodiazepines, including:

 

 

  • Certain antifungal medications, including:

 

    • Fluconazole (Diflucan®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Voriconazole (Vfend®)
