Neurontin® is often used to treat nerve pain that occurs after a shingles infection and partial seizures in people with epilepsy. While its full effects are not clear, the prescription drug is believed to work by affecting calcium channels in the brain. Neurontin is available in tablet, capsule, and liquid form, and is typically taken one to three times a day. Possible side effects include coordination problems, dizziness, and drowsiness.
