A common prescription drug used to treat partial seizures in people with epilepsy and nerve pain associated with a shingles infection is Neurontin®. The drug is believed to work, in part, by affecting calcium channels in the brain; however, its full effects are unknown. Side effects can include dizziness and drowsiness. The dose of Neurontin that you are prescribed will depend on factors such as the condition being treated and your age and weight.
