Neurontin
® (
gabapentin) is a prescription medication used for treating the chronic nerve pain that often occurs after an outbreak of
shingles. It is also approved to be used along with other
seizure medications to treat partial
seizures in adults and children as young as three years old.
There are several different forms of this drug: oral solution, capsules, and tablets. Neurontin is taken by mouth, usually one to three times a day. It is important to take Neurontin at the same times each day to maintain an even level of medicine in your blood. You should not stop taking this drug without your healthcare provider's approval, as stopping Neurontin too abruptly can lead to bothersome withdrawal symptoms.
