Neurontin Drug Interactions

When certain medications are taken with Neurontin, drug interactions are possible. These interactions can increase or decrease the levels of medication in your blood and may also increase your risk of side effects. Among the medicines that can cause Neurontin drug interactions are morphine, naproxen, and antacids containing magnesium or aluminum. To prevent these, your healthcare provider may adjust your dosages.

Alcohol
Alcohol can increase your risk of certain Neurontin side effects, such as drowsiness or dizziness. Talk to your healthcare provider about drinking alcohol while taking the drug (see Neurontin and Alcohol for more information).
 
Aluminum or Magnesium Antacids
Antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium can decrease the absorption of Neurontin into your body, perhaps making it less effective. In order to avoid this interaction, do not take these medications within two hours of each other.
