Effects of Neurontin

Neurontin® (gabapentin) is a prescription medication approved to treat epilepsy and nerve pain caused by shingles. It is not exactly clear how this drug works, but it is known to affect certain calcium channels in the brain, which may be how it works for seizures and nerve pain.

Although most people do not experience problems with this drug, side effects of Neurontin are possible. Commonly reported problems include drowsiness, dizziness, and coordination problems. People with liver or kidney disease should talk to their healthcare provider before beginning treatment.
