Lyrica® (
pregabalin) is a medicine approved to treat several conditions. For example:
- Lyrica is used to treat the nerve pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, a serious complication that can occur in people with diabetes
While how the medicine achieves these effects is not entirely known, Lyrica is known to bind to certain parts of
calcium channels in the central nervous system, which may be how it works for seizures and nerve pain.
Lyrica is not approved to treat nerve pain or epilepsy in children. Talk with your healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using the drug in children.
