Although many people have no problems with
Lyrica® (
pregabalin), it is not free of dangerous risks. Because this medication is not suitable for everyone, talk to your healthcare provider about possible Lyrica dangers that may apply to you. For instance, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other medical conditions you may have and any other medications you are taking (including nonprescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements) before beginning treatment.
Some of the most common Lyrica side effects include:
- Dizziness
- Drowsiness
- Coordination problems
- Weight gain.
Although side effects with Lyrica are not usually dangerous and are easily treated, some problems are serious and require medical attention. Contact your healthcare provider right away if you experience difficulty breathing, unusual bruising or bleeding, or any vision changes.
Other warnings apply to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as to people who have certain
allergies (including allergies to foods, dyes, or preservatives). Also, you may not be able to take Lyrica if you have certain medical conditions, such as a bleeding disorder, kidney disease, or an irregular heart rhythm.
