Lamictal and Depression: A Summary

Lamictal is a seizure medication that is also approved to treat bipolar disorder. It is not approved to treat depression. However, early studies suggest that it may be useful for depression that is difficult to treat, especially when used in combination with an antidepressant. More research is needed before it can be determined that Lamictal is safe and effective for this use.
