Lamictal XR can react with a number of products, including phenobarbital, carbamazepine, and hormonal contraceptives. Drug interactions with Lamictal XR can lead to problems such as decreased effectiveness of your medications and increased risk of side effects. Carbamazepine
Carbamazepine can decrease the level of Lamictal XR in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may recommend a higher dose of Lamictal XR if you are taking carbamazepine. In addition, using this medication may increase your risk of certain Lamictal XR side effects, such as dizziness, vision problems, or coordination problems.
