Klonopin Drug Interactions

Klonopin drug interactions can occur if the medication is combined with certain other drugs, such as alcohol, antidepressants, and barbiturates. The problems that these interactions can cause include an increased risk of side effects (such as difficulty breathing, memory loss, and drowsiness) and increased or decreased drug levels in the body. To minimize the risk of drug interactions with Klonopin, be sure to talk to your healthcare provider about the specific interactions that may apply to you.

An Overview of Klonopin Drug Interactions

Klonopin® (clonazepam) can potentially interact with other medications. Some of these medicines that may lead to Klonopin interactions include:
 
o Clozapine (Clozaril®, FazaClo®)
  • Barbiturates, including:
o Amobarbital (Amytal®)
o Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
o Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
o Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
o Secobarbital (Seconal®) 
  • Certain antibiotics or antifungals, including:
o Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
o Isoniazid (Nydrazid®)
o Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
o Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
o Miconazole
o Telithromycin (Ketek®) 
  • Protease inhibitors, such as:
  • Seizure medications
  • Sleep medications.
