Klonopin® (
clonazepam) is a prescription drug used for treating
panic disorder and certain types of epileptic
seizures. It is currently available in several different forms and strengths.
Klonopin tablets and wafers (orally disintegrating tablets) come in the following strengths:
- 0.125 mg wafers
- 0.25 mg wafers
- 0.5 mg wafers and tablets
- 1 mg wafers and tablets
- 2 mg wafers and tablets.
The recommended starting Klonopin dose for treating panic disorder is 0.25 mg twice daily. Your healthcare provider may increase your dose, if necessary, to control your panic disorder symptoms.
For the treatment of
epilepsy, the recommended starting dosage is 0.5 mg (or less) three times daily. If necessary, your healthcare provider may slowly increase your dose (such as to 2 mg of Klonopin three times a day) to control your
seizures. The maximum recommended daily dosage is 20 mg, split up into three smaller doses per day.
