Keppra XR Uses
During a seizure, brain cells (neurons) may fire as many as 500 times a second, much faster than the normal rate of about 80 times a second. It is not known exactly how Keppra XR works to prevent partial seizures in people with epilepsy. In fact, studies have shown that Keppra XR does not work like any other seizure medication.
Keppra XR is approved to treat partial seizures in adolescents age 16 years and older. It is not approved for use in younger children (because it has not been adequately studied in this age group).
