Keppra XR™ (
levetiracetam XR) is a prescription medication used to treat a certain type of
epilepsy known as partial
seizures. While most
seizure medications have numerous drug interactions,
Keppra XR is unlikely to interact with other medications. This is a potential advantage of Keppra XR over other seizure medications. In studies, when regular, immediate-release Keppra was taken with certain other medications, no significant interactions occurred. This is a good indication that Keppra XR is also unlikely to interact with medications (since there is no reason to believe that Keppra and Keppra XR will behave differently, in terms of drug interactions).
Keppra XR has not been studied in combination with every medication. Therefore, it is possible that there are Keppra XR drug interactions that are not known at this time. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific Keppra XR interactions that may apply to you.
