What Is Felbatol?Felbatol® (felbamate) is a prescription medication used to treat epilepsy. Specifically, it is approved to treat the following conditions:
- Partial seizures in adults, either alone or with other seizure medications
- Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in children, in combination with other seizure medications.
Felbatol is only approved for use in people who have severe epilepsy that has not adequately responded to other medications.
How Does It Work?Epilepsy is a neurological condition associated with abnormal electrical signaling in the brain. These abnormal electrical signals often lead to seizures. This is why epilepsy is sometimes called a seizure disorder.
Although it is not known exactly how Felbatol works to prevent seizures, it is thought that it works in a similar way as other seizure medications.
