Felbatol Medication Information

Felbatol® (felbamate) is available only by prescription and is approved for treating severe epilepsy. Specifically, this medication is prescribed to treat partial seizures in adults and seizures caused by Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in children.

This medicine is not appropriate for everyone; your healthcare provider needs complete information on your medical history and what medications you are taking before prescribing Felbatol. Although many people do not have any problems while taking this drug, side effects can occur, and may include headaches, insomnia, and constipation. Fortunately, if negative reactions do occur, they tend to be mild and easily treated.

Felbatol comes in the form of a tablet or liquid, and is typically taken three or four times daily. This medication should only be taken when other medicines have failed to control your seizures.
