Depakote ER® (divalproex ER) is a drug prescribed for the following uses:
 
Because the medication comes in the form of extended-release tablets, it only needs to be taken once a day. Nausea, drowsiness, and infections are some of the most common side effects.
 
Before using Depakote ER, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other drugs you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, as well as any allergies you may have, including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
