Diazepam (
Valium®) is a benzodiazepine medication often used for the treatment of
seizures,
anxiety, alcohol withdrawal, and muscle spasms. It is available by prescription only and comes in several different forms, including tablets, oral liquid, and injectable forms. Diazepam tablets are available in the following strengths:
- Diazepam 2 mg
- Diazepam 5 mg
- Diazepam 10 mg.
The liquid and tablet forms of diazepam are taken by mouth, typically three or four times a day (or sometimes more or less often, depending on the particular condition being treated). For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed.
