Drowsiness, vomiting, nausea, and unsteadiness are some of the common side effects reported with Carbatrol® (carbamazepine). Rare side effects include frequent urination, headaches, and leg cramps. The medication has also been reported to interfere with some pregnancy tests. Although most Carbatrol side effects are minor, some are potentially serious and should be reported to your healthcare provider, including unusual bruising or bleeding and yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin.
